There has been a recall on certain pet foods canned (or placed in sealed pouches) between December 2006 to March 2007.  Please warn others to not give canned food to their pets without checking out these sites to find out if it is on the recall list.  The "ingredient" they are mentioning very well may be rat poison.  The poison can led to renal failure and a painful death.   My family has already experienced several to death and others have kidney damage and cannot breed any longer. We have given many of our cats away to good samaratians that will take care of them for what ever time they have left. Don't let this happen to you or yours. Check the recall list prior to purchasing any foods for your pets.

We have lost three litters of kittens from mothers who were injured from the recalled food, 4 adults died and have several with kidney damage that can no longer breed.

Further recalls have come out since the canned food menu food recall which include some dry foods that contained rice glutten or wheat glutten. Please check the recall list prior to feeding your babies any thing you might be purchasing at this time. Check the ingredients list and the recall sites first.

It looks like Brisco has been injured by the IAM's canned cat food. He was in the hosptial  for treatment. His kidneys were in bad shape. 

March 26th, 2007 
We lost Brisco today. He went into Renal Failure due to the cat food that was recalled. We are greif stricken over his loss.  We had him in the hospital for days trying to save his life but it was too late. We hope that this warning will save your babies.

As of now we have had many losses and now know it was from the food recall. Please keep up to date on the recalls so not to go through the pains and suffering we are feeling. 

We have lost Jingle Belle and her whole litter because her kidney damage went systemic before we knew about the recall and when she went into labor, it caused a heart attack and we could not even save her kittens. Pawtrick died from renal failure and Sassy passed away as well. We lost several kittens that ate the food and  Precious miscarried 2 whole litters of kittens since the recall. She had to have a total hysterectomy and we may not be able to provide lynx point kittens again unless we can find a breeder with a female that will allow us to purchase breeding rights. They are so rare to find so it may be while before we can find one like her again and be able to get the breeding rights on her. 

We now know that many of our other cats have kidney damage but not enough to cause death but certainly enough that they will not live out a normal life span. Please have any kittens you purchased from us tested to be sure that they did not have damage prior to leaving our home which we were unaware of at the time of sale.

Precious accidently got bred by Chettah again this year, 2008 and we were worried about her. I had Chettah put up in a birthing cage because she was in heat but while cleaning his litterbox, cage and adding food and clean water for him, she jumped in his cage and he had her before I could get to her. Once again, she lost the whole litter and had to have a complete hysterectomy due to the severe infection it caused. The vet says she could not be bred again and this surgery was the only way to save her life.

Also make note that many dry foods have been added to the recall with rice glutten or wheat glutten in them that is contaminated. Check all ingredients on the foods you are feeding to see if these are in them. Also keep a check on the fda recalls website for any further updates. You can register with them to get updates for any and all recalls if you are interested. 

We have found out the damage to Dusty Rose, Tabitha, Precious,  Shayla, and Choco Belle will  prevent them from ever having kittens in the future. They have kidney damage from the food that is most likely permanent damage and should not be bred according to our vet. He says that they did not eat enough to kill them but did eat enough of  the tainted food to do damage.  Being pregnant, delivering kittens and nursing would be too much on their already weakened systems. We have chosen to keep Dusty Rose, Choco Belle and Precious as pets only and will have them spayed. We still have Chettah and he seems fine but have not had him tested at this point. We hope to do this in the near future. It has just been so expensive testing the ones we have tested and we just can't afford any more at this time.  He is a wonderful black male who is a wonderful breeder male and knows his business for sure. He is a proven male but we can not allow him to get to the girls who have damaged kidneys. He is not of the same quality as Brisco or Casper but he is a wonderful companion for now.  We had to give away Tabitha & Sassy, due to the damages, to families that would take care of their medical needs through out their lifetime and sent Shayla back home to live with my oldest daughter.  It is just too expensive to care for all my babies alone without being able to breed right now.  There will be future medical expenses on all that have damages so we did not feel right in selling those who did have kidney damage. We know that the new owners will provide them with what ever care they do need in the future and they were fully informed prior to taking them home with them. 

We do not have any cats to breed for the future but hope to rebuild at some point in time.   Please keep us bookmarked to find out the status and hopefully we will be able to start over in the near future.
