GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.

Arlington Codes say that we can not breed and sell animals out of  a residential home and so we are trying to change the laws. It may take time but we appreciate your prayers and patience while we work on changing them.  According to Irving and Grand Prairie codes, it is normal to raise pets in the home and sell them to good loving families but Arlington seems to think they should be raised in a commercial building. I disagree with this because you can not give them the love and attention and give them social skills in cages in a commercial building. I insist that to raise healthy loving pets it has to be done in a home environment. Keep us in your prayers while we fight this battle.  Thank you all and Until then, God bless you all and see you again in the future.

In the mean time, we have moved most of our cats out to other breeders. As they are bred and have kittens, we will post their birth announcements here on our new arrival pages. Once we can get the laws changed, we will bring some of them back home again. As for now we will still work with you to meet us and see kittens as we can.

We are going out of business until further notice. Thanks for all your support throughout this time. We will post notice when and if we reopen.  Thanks again and God bless.

Why Pets Can Be Good for Your Health

It's funny how dogs and cats know the inside of folks better than other folks do, isn't it?
-Eleanor H. Porter, Pollyanna

From "Unconditional Love: Healing from Pets" by Jill Neimark, Spirituality & Health Magazine (July/August 2005):  Beliefnet.com

A survey by the American Animal Hospital Association found that three-quarters of pet owners say affection is their pet’s most endearing quality. Now a review of the research from Stanford University shows that the love goes both ways and suggests that our own altruistic behavior makes caring for pets so beneficial.

"The attachment we feel to our pets is similar to the unconditional love a parent feels for a child," says Marivic Dizon, a postdoctoral candidate at Stanford University. "Acts of kindness and compassion directed at animals are authentically altruistic. There are few social benefits to such actions beyond the possible reciprocation of love from the animal." Dr. Dizon explains that altruism is linked to improved mental and physical well-being, and the care and nurturing we give animals offers similar benefits. Whether you’re rescuing an injured bird or stroking your dog’s belly, you will likely be boosting your own health and well-being.

Dizon reports that adults and children who feel empathy towards their pets manifest stronger feelings of empathy toward other people. In Project Pooch, incarcerated youth who learned to care for dogs that had been abandoned also learned greater honesty, empathy, nurturing, social growth, respect for authority, and leadership. A study of women in prisons who trained dogs to help the handicapped found that the women’s self-esteem increased significantly.

One long-term study on pet ownership found that adopting a pet is associated with almost instantly improved physical and emotional well-being. This may be in part because caring for a pet connects us more strongly to society.

Why are Registered Kittens so Expensive?

Most legitimate breeders do not even cover their own costs. It's a very expensive hobby. As an example, buying a top show quality kitten with breeding rights can cost more than $1000 per cat.

Showing cats to the title of "Champion" can add another $500-$2000 to the investment. Showing a male or female to the title of "Grand Champion", or "Regional/National Winner"  can be from $1000 to over $20,000!

Maintenance, supplies and veterinary care generally cost breeders about $500 per cat per year. By the time a cat is first bred, at about a year old, the breeder will have invested several thousand dollars.

Kitten shots and vet visits cost breeders about $100 per kitten and that's if there are NO problems to be treated. Kittens stay with the breeder for about 8 weeks to 3 months, and have to be cuddled, and cleaned up after for all that time. Separate, special areas of the house are often customized for the cats to use as a cattery or nursery and some cattery set-ups cost $5000 or more to build.

If all goes well, fat healthy kittens are born. But there are always the disasters, such as C-sections that run $750 and up. Good breeders make a huge investment into  " doing it right", by having the right breeding cats and facilities. Caring, professionaly breeders make huge sacrifices in their personal lives, and shed lots of tears, in trying to create a successful breeding program.

Kittens are not neutered or spayed before delivery. That will be up to you if you wish to have that done.  If you wish to breed, be sure to ask about breeding rights before purchase.  Prices do not include breeding rights. Many breeders will require you have the kitten fixed before you will receive the papers on your new kitten or will have it spayed or neutered before you receive the kitten if breeding rights are not given. Also, many breeders will not sell breeding rights. Be sure you ask all the questions you need answers to before purchasing your new bundle of joy. I welcome questions if you have any.  Please email me and I will respond as soon as possible.
